Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi & Urban Ecology

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) you will be picked up and welcomed by Wantya Africa Expeditions driver guide and transfer to your hotel and check-in. After lunch you begin your explore with a visit to the Nairobi National Museum, providing a comprehensive overview of Kenya's history, culture, and natural heritage, explore the city center, including iconic landmarks like the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC),visit the bustling City Market for local crafts and souvenirs and in the evening enjoy a dinner at a local restaurant, experiencing Kenyan cuisine.

Day 2: Wildlife Conservation & Research

Immediately after your early morning breakfast, you will visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, learning about elephant conservation and rehabilitation, visit the Giraffe Centre, focusing on Rothschild's giraffe conservation and research and in the afternoon after lunch at a local and continental restaurant, visit a wildlife research center (The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) Headquarters and Research Center) and learn about ongoing research projects and conservation efforts.

Day 3: Historical Perspective & Colonial Influence

On this day after breakfast, you will visit the Karen Blixen Museum, learning about colonial-era Kenya and its impact, visit the Railway Museum, showcasing Kenya's railway history, McMillan Memorial Library-Nairobi’s oldest library, built in the early 20th century, containing colonial-era books and historical documents. It offers a glimpse into Kenya’s literary and intellectual history and also the August 7th Memorial Park- a memorial built on the site of the 1998 U.S. Embassy bombing, dedicated to the victims of the tragic event. It serves as an important site for learning about Kenya’s modern history, terrorism, and peace efforts.

Day 4: Cultural Diversity & Community Engagement

After breakfast you will visit the Bomas of Kenya, experiencing traditional Kenyan villages and cultural performances and learn about the diverse cultural groups in Kenya and in the afternoon visit a local community project or cultural center engaging in a cultural exchange with community members. In the evening you will attend a cultural performance or storytelling session.

Day 5: Environmental Science & Sustainable Practices

After breakfast you will transfer to Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies, this institute is founded in honor of Nobel Laureate Wangari Maathai,it focuses on environmental conservation, climate change, and sustainability. It offers practical experiences in reforestation, sustainable agriculture, and community-driven conservation projects. Have lunch and in the late afternoon go and visit Karura Forest- it’s a protected urban forest known for its conservation efforts, biodiversity, and eco-tourism

Day 6: Transfer to lake Naivasha.

Early morning after breakfast you will transfer to lake Naivasha for a Boat cruise on as you learn about wetland ecosystems and see hippos and water birds and in the afternoon visit Crescent Island Sanctuary and walk among zebras, giraffes, and wildebeest in an open, predator-free environment.

Day 7: Return to Kigali & Departure

Transfer back to Nairobi visiting a local market for last-minute souvenir shopping and transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) for your departure.
