We pick you up at Entebbe international airport for the start your 10 days primate safari in Uganda. This first day you are taken to the lodge by Entebbe to relax.
Overnight Tilapia Lodge
In the morning we head to Mabamba Swamp to search for the pre-historic looking Shoebill Stork, a fascinating sight for both birders and non-birders. We then start the journey towards the crater lakes region by Kibale Forest. When entering the Kibale area we keep our eyes open since there is an amazing display of primates in this area. Monkey species that can be seen are for example black and white colobus, red colobus, red tailed monkey and grey cheeked mangabeys.
Overnight Lake Nkuruba
Head into the forest of the Primate city of Kibale in the morning for chimpanzee trekking, the first great ape you will meet during this 10 days primate safari in Uganda. This is a three hour experience. Kibale Forest national park is a rainy forest and a home to over 1500 Chimpanzees. Here you have the chance to see the chimps close up and capture shots of our closet cousins in the jungle in there frenzy exciting moods as they are grooming, building relationships, bringing up young ones, think and sharing food, plus rare bird species following them. In the forest 9 different species of Monkeys are found so you have chances of seeing red colobus, red tailed monkey and bush babies on a great day.
Overnight Lake Nkuruba
As an option you can upgrade to participating in Chimpanzee habituation, where you get to follow the chimps for the whole day, a truly exclusive experience (let us know when booking if you wish for this option).
After breakfast we leave the lodge and head to the close by crater lakes area for a walk in beautiful nature and chance of seeing primates like black and white colobus. After the walk we make the journey down to the lodge by Queen Elizabeth NP having lunch along the way. In the afternoon continue this 10-days Uganda Safari by getting ready for the Classic highlights on the 2hrs Boat cruise starting at 3pm on the famous Kazinga channel.
This 36kms channel links Lake George and Lake Edward. Here you can see land and water Adapted Hippopotamuses Yawning and some slashing canines to each other, the National Geographical society Killing machine the Nile Crocodile gaping along the Banks and Savannah version of Pigs the Warthog- Pumba of the award winning Lion King are a hallmark sign in this Animal home of Mamaland Uganda. With your Binoculars along the peninsula you have a magnificent view of Birds and animals like the ever playing African Elephants in Waters as we sigh and reset Fatigue and stress, to point zero.
Overnight in Pumba safari cottages
In the morning we drive over to Kyambura Gorge where you are up for a special experience. Kyambura Gorge is hidden in the savnnah of Queen Elizabeth National Park, within the gorge there is a jungle with chimps. In a group with a specialized guide you trek to find the chimpanzees. After the trek we go back to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation. Later in the afternoon you go for a guided village walk, getting an insight into Ugandan countryside life.
Overnight Pumba Safari Cottages
After a relaxed breakfast we make the drive down to Ishasha, the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The road goes through the park so we have the chance to sight elephants, baboons and more along the way. We have lunch at the lodge and in the afternoon go for a game-drive in Ishasha. The highlight here is the tree-climbing lions that Ishasha is famous for. Regularly climbing trees is an unusual behaviour for these big cats and Ishasha is one of only two places in the world where they are known to regularly do it.
Overnight Topi Lodge
Have an early breakfast and drive over to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. In Bwindi you will go for the great highlight of this 10 days primates safari in Uganda, the Mountain Gorilla trek. After the briefing you head into the jungle in a group with a specialized guide and trek up to the point where the gorillas are. You then get to spend one hour with these gentle giants. The Impenetrable Forest is as well full of birds, butterfly and plant species plus forest hog, forest elephants, statungas and dikers. After the trek your guide picks you and takes you to the lodge to relax.
Overnight Haven Lodge
Enjoy a peaceful breakfast with scenic views of the mountains. We then make the adventurous drive through the mountains and on to the town of Kisoro.
Overnight Travellers Rest
In the morning we make the drive over to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park where you will head into the jungle for the last time during this10 days primate safari in Uganda. The target for the trek this time is Golden Monkeys. You go in a group together with a specialized guide to look at the monkeys and enjoy the jungle. After the trek we journey to beautiful Lake Bunyonyi for a relaxed last evening in Uganda.
Overnight Lake Bunyonyi Eco Resort
Transfer over to Rwanda where you take your flight home from Kigali international airport. You should plan for an afternoon/evening flight from Kigali.
Beautiful Lake Bunyonyi. Then in Tanzania you explore the vast Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater.
